Give a Kid a Flag

As one of the National Exchange's Americanism Projects each year at the Portland Memorial Day Parade members of The Exchange Club of  Portland hand out nearly 2,000 flags to children, veterans and adults along the 1.5 mile parade route.

 

Promoting pride in country, respect for the flag and appreciation of our freedoms are the primary purposes of Exchange's Americanism programs.  The Exchange's Americanism programs were born in the aftermath of World War II.  At that time, patriotism was insatiable, members joined veterans and other civic groups in heralding the rich blessing of democracy.
